Gaza: Israeli air attack in the early morning on Sunday destroyed part of the Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza, announced the local authorities. They did not immediately report any victims from the site, and the Israeli army for AFP said it was checking the case.

According to the authorities, there was an attack shortly after midnight, just a few minutes after the Israeli army issued a call to evacuate the building. “The bombing has led to the destruction of the surgery building and the oxygen production stations for intensive care departments,” they added. In addition to patients and medical staff, there were allegedly displaced Palestinians in the building.

Al-Ahlí Hospital was seriously damaged on October 17, 2023, in an explosion near the parking lot, which died many people. Palestinian militant groups accused Israel of the attack, who rejected responsibility, according to him, and it was an incorrectly detonated missile rocket of Islamic jihad – this claim was also supported by the United States and Human Rights Watch (HRW).

Military with Hamas

Hospitals that are protected by international humanitarian law have been repeatedly affected during the war. Israel claims that the Hamas Palestinian movement uses hospitals as command centers and hides tunnels under them, which the militant group denies. According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO) of 28 March, only 22 out of 36 hospitals in the Gaza Strip are partially functional.

On Saturday, the Israeli army also announced taking control of a new security corridor created in the area of the former Jewish settlement Morag – between the towns of Khan Junis and Rafah – in the south of the Gaza Strip. She promised to extend her offensive.

Israel began a military offensive in the Gaza Strip after the Hamas attack and his allies in the south of Israel in October 2023, in which the militants killed more than 1,200 people and captured another 251 as hostages.

According to data from the Ministry of Health in Gaza, which manages Hamas, at least 50 933 Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of the war in the Palestinian enclave. The Israeli army began on 18 March this year a new offensive, interrupting the fragile ceasefire with Hamas from January.
