Brazilian billionaire Jorge Paulo Lemann, partner of 3G Capital and one of the richest men in Brazil, criticized the commercial policy of US President Donald Trump during his participation in Brazil Conference, held in Cambridge, United States, last Saturday (12). The information is from the newspaper S.Paulo Folha.

The event, organized by Brazilian Harvard and MIT students, brought together leaders and entrepreneurs to discuss global topics. Lemann stated that Trump’s actions are “too confused” on his taste and highlighted the impacts of the trade war on global economies.

“I believe in causing some disruption, shaking things. And we are certainly shaking, but I think they are shaking a little too much. And well, no one really knows the result. You have to browse,” Lemann said, commenting on Trump’s rates imposed on foreign products.

Currently, all US -imported items are subject to a 10%rate, while Chinese products face rates of up to 145%.

Despite the criticism, the entrepreneur has shown optimism about the future, stating that “it will end all right,” although no one knows exactly how.

Although he addressed topics such as the need to improve the performance of some of his companies, Lemann directly avoided commenting on the accounting scandal involving the American stores, which surfaced in early 2023.

Continues after advertising

The company, which was the first acquisition of Trio Lemann, Marcel Telles and Carlos Alberto Sicupira, faces a deep crisis after the report of accounting fraud. The entrepreneur has just said he is focused on ensuring the success of the companies he is involved with.
