In the first game between Palmeiras and Corinthians after the Paulista Championship final, the alviverde team got the best. He won 2-0 in a match played at the Barueri Arena – Allianz Parque receives Gilberto Gil’s farewell tour. Since 2017 Corinthians has not beat Palmeiras in the Brazilian when playing as a visitor.
Palmeiras scored two goals in the first half. The first, at 14 minutes, was from Joaquin Piquerez. The second came only five minutes later, at 19, it was from Emiliano Martínez.
Corinthians, who beat the alvinegro team in the Paulista final, had difficulty linking defense and attack during the game. The ball did not arrive at the team’s top strikers, Yuri Alberto and Memphis Depay. The team had lags – Gustavo Henrique, Fabrizio Angilerri, Rodrigo Garro were out of injuries, and coach Ramon Díaz had been expelled in the last round.
In the second half, Palmeiras did not maintain the same offensive pace, although it did not get sick. Corinthians, with shy improvement, ended the game making the first attempt that reached the goal at 46.
Around 22 minutes, amid a free kick from Palmeiras, a kite fell on the lawn. Gustavo Gomes destroyed the object. The foul resulted in a cross from Estevão to Vitor Roque, who scored the third goal of the match. It would be first of the player for the team, but ended up annulled.
Roque came from Barcelona for 25 million euros, more than $ 154.6 million, in February this year. The purchase is the largest in Palmeiras history and, according to Transfermarket, the largest in Brazilian football.
After the annulment, the player made another attempt, which was defended by Matheus Donelli, reserve of goalkeeper Hugo Souza. 30 minutes into the second half, he and Stephen left.
Without alvinegra reaction, the Palmeirense fans already shouted “Olé” after 41 minutes. The match had no provocations from the players, such as the climb on Memphis Depay’s ball in the Paulista final. The crowd, on the other hand, threw a chicken head to stir the Corinthians.
