Trump says relationship between Ukraine and Russia is "going well"

Trump’s statements appear after the US special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, had a long meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Russian city of St. Petersburg.

The US President expressed optimism on Saturday with regard to relations between Ukraine and Russia, although attacks on both sides continue.

“I think the relationship between Ukraine and Russia may be going well. And they will find it soon. It comes to a point where you have to endure or shut up. We’ll see what happens, but I think it’s going well,” Donald Trump told Air Force One, the US presidential plane.

“We have a lot of conflicts going around the world and I think we will soon have good news about some of these conflicts,” he said as he traveled from Mar-Lago’s residence in Florida to Miami, to watch a mixed martial arts combat.

Trump’s statements come after the US special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, had a long meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Russian city of St. Petersburg on Friday.

Shortly before the meeting, Witkoff urged Russia to take steps to end up hostilities in Ukraine to lead both parties to sign a peace agreement.

In recent days, Kiev and Moscow have repeatedly denounced the attacks, and Russia will be able to abandon the agreed energy truce with Ukraine on 16 April, due to what Kremlin considers to be constant violations of Kiev’s moratorium.

On Friday, the US president expressed frustration with the lack of progress between Ukraine and Russia, the White House spokesman said.

“The president was very clear in expressing continuous frustration with both sides of this conflict and wants to see the end of the war,” said the spokesman at a press conference.

Tariffs: Trump refers more details for tomorrow

Asked about the next steps of US tariff policy, the president of the United States sent more explanations about Monday.

“We will be very specific on Monday. But we are receiving a lot of money as a country,” he said.

“Negotiations [com Irão] are going well ”

Donald Trump also said he believed that negotiations about the Iranian nuclear program are going well. Speaking to journalists at Air Force One, the US president declined to give details of yesterday’s meeting.
