“We are not talking here about the makeup of a statue. We are talking about murder plans, rupture of our democracy, vandalism, depredation of public and historical heritage. We are talking about attacks on Brazilian state institutions that would have unimaginable consequences.”
The PF Director-General also stressed the need to hold those involved in proportion to the severity of the crimes.
“I have the greatest respect and appreciation for Congress, which is the forum of debates and legislative proposals, but I also have my opinion very consolidated,” Andrei said, mentioning the “exquisite denunciation” of the Attorney General’s Office to the Supreme Court. “I find it unacceptable not to punish people who committed crimes of this scope.”
During the panel, Andrei Rodrigues was asked how his proximity to the government could affect the autonomy of the Federal Police. He responded to find the assumptions about his personal relationship with President Lula, stating that the connection is exclusively institutional.

“This is a position of trust. And confidence in people’s work. I keep thinking if the president would appoint someone who doesn’t trust this role, so he needs to have confidence,” he said, highlighting his trajectory within the institution. “It is in the law that is the President of the Republic that names. I think we have to end with this, that there is this personal relationship, that I do not have. Andrei pointed out that the PF does its work with independence, without taking into political or economic stature. He added that, under his management, there are no more “operating shows” and made several indirect mentions to the Lava-Jato period.
