An Ardal terrestrial drone successfully evacuated three seriously injured Ukrainian soldiers that had been in a stranded month near Russian positions, as reported by the media . When all the methods to try to rescue them had failed, the army and the Ukrainian engineers carried out this unique mission using a terrestrial robotic complex.
Technological innovations in the war with drones have become a distinctive conflict, in which unmanned vehicles are playing a fundamental role. In mid -March, Kseniia Vynohradova, who previously served in the 154th Brigade, published on Facebook that he was looking for a land drone to rescue three wounded soldiers who had been stranded in their position for three weeks.
The evacuation had been impossible due to the continuous fighting in that area of the front. In addition, two of the three soldiers suffered serious injuries, one in the head due to the shrapnel and another with a serious injury in a limb, which later worsened with freezing and decomposition. Unable to move long distances alone, soldiers could not reach by conventional evacuation methods.
A team was formed rapidly and in a matter of days it was deployed in the Járkov region with several terrestrial drones. Five more days were dedicated to coordination, collection of information and planning with the military of the brigades involved. The situation, according to the same medium, required frequent route adjustments and a close surveillance of the state of the wounded soldiers, who remained in contact at all times.
When the operation began, the injured military had a month very close to the Russian forces, supporting repeated attacks with drones and chemical weapons. They suffered exhaustion, blood loss and serious injuries. Throughout the process, their classmates maintained constant communication and could give them food, water, medications and spare radio batteries through drones.
The team continued despite having lost its first drone for two anti -tank mines. Upon learning of the loss of the drone, the wounded soldiers communicated by radio: “We can’t take it anymore. End us or we will drag. The Russians will end us.”
Finally, the team modernized a second drone and modified another trailer. On this occasion, the drone reached the position successfully and rescued the wounded soldiers in an operation that lasted about four hours.
