The former president (PL) follows the ICU and has no forecast of discharge for this week, according to his doctors. He underwent surgery by the medical team.
Contrary to what former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro published on Instagram on Monday (14), the former president follows the ICU and has not yet been taken to the room. There is also no forecast of ICU discharge.
According to the doctor’s head of the surgical team, Claudio Birolini, the first lady meant that he had already left the operating room and gone to the ICU.
“In the first assessment, he had no urgent or emergency indications. What happened is that in these 48 hours he always had an abdominal staff,” said the doctor. “What happened was that, gradually, from Christmas to the arrival here, he presented this change, precisely, called PCR, which tells us that there is something happening.”
According to him, the president is doing well and that the team opted for surgery for detecting that there was a significant change in a short time. “For us, it’s an early sign that has a dislocated thing.”
According to the team, the former president’s situation was of a “hostile intestine”, with adhesions and an impaired abdominal wall.
“The starting point is stabbed. Subsequently, the other reconstruction surgeries, all of them play a factor, a role in the current picture. The purpose of this surgery was to reverse all these factors that could contribute to a new occurrence,” said Birolini.
By the size of the procedure, the postoperative period requires specific attention and care, especially in the first 48 hours. Now the medical advice is that Bolsonaro has a restricted agenda and visits. “He has a very intense agenda and it’s hard to hold him. I’m going to try to hold as much as possible, but he has his pace,” said the team chief.
At this time, he will be kept with nutrition in the vein, not yet predicted when he will again feed orally. Regular feeding will only resume when the gut returns to normal physiological life, according to doctors.
Asked about the former president’s diet and lifestyle, the doctor stated that no food was identified that could have triggered the episode and that “the fact that he eats pastel with sugarcane juice does not affect.”
Birolini also reported that the president is already awake and would have even made a joke. Daily reports of the president should be released to the public after the family authorization.
The information was given on Monday (14) by the head of the medical team and cardiologists Leandro Echenique and Ricardo Camarinha, Guilherme Meyer, medical director of DF Star Hospital and Allisson Barcelos Borges, Director General at DF Star Hospital.
Bolsonaro arrived at DF Star on Saturday (12), after being transferred from Natal (RN).
This was the sixth and longest abdominal surgery of Bolsonaro since the stab she suffered in the 2018 election campaign. The procedure lasted 12 hours.
According to a statement issued by DF Star Hospital on Sunday (13), the former president underwent large surgery to remove intestines and reconstruction of the abdominal wall.
According to the text, there was no complications or need for blood transfusion. The hospital reported that intestinal obstruction was the result of a small bowel fold that made intestinal transit difficult and was undone.
Bolsonaro had been in the capital of Rio Grande do Norte since Friday, when after sick inside the state, where he would participate in an event, in favor of amnesty to the protesters of the scammer acts of January 8, 2023.
