Among the strategies to accommodate the 50,000 expected visitors, the governor mentioned the modernization of existing beds, the construction of new high standard hotels and the use of ships as maritime hotels. In addition, season rental platforms and adapted schools as hosting areas are being implemented.
Barbalho also highlighted the construction of a village of leaders with over 400 high standard beds. “We are confident that we will have enough offer to meet demand, and prices will be monitored to avoid abuse,” he told the newspaper.

According to him, Pará recorded the opening of 26,000 companies in the first quarter of 2025, driven by the opportunities created by COP30. “We are experiencing an economic transformation that involves construction, commerce and services. The governor also emphasized the newspaper that the investments made for COP30 were planned to benefit the population after the event. Urban mobility works, new water terminals and urban parks are among projects that aim to improve Belém’s infrastructure.
“We learned from the errors of the Rio Olympics. Here, all equipment has been designed to leave a lasting legacy for the city and its population,” said Barbalho, who believes that COP30’s international visibility will help consolidate Belém as one of the main tourist destinations of the Amazon.

Barbalho argued that the event should not be captured by political ideologies and highlighted the importance of an environmental discourse aligned with social needs.
“COP is neither left nor right. It is an event that discusses global issues and seeks real solutions to climate challenges. Our focus is on ensuring that the forest standing has economic value, reconciling environmental preservation with sustainable development,” concluded the governor.
