The coalition CIS submits a proposal for the cancellation of transactional tax for sole traders and small entrepreneurs with a turnover of up to EUR 100,000 at the May meeting of the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic. On Monday, the CIS chairman Andrej Danko informed about it in the video on the social network, saying that they also wanted to negotiate with the coalition partners to cancel the entire transaction tax on 31 December 2025.
“So far, we have discussed coalition partners to make a proposal together at this meeting to help those who are most liquidated. Since we did not have a response and we cannot connect with the opposition, we serve it as a political party as soon as the law allows us to meet at the May meeting”Said Danko.
He added that if the coalition partners do not help the proposal, he should get to the second reading in September, the transaction tax for sole traders and small businesses could be canceled only from October 30. According to Danko, in compiling the budget for this year, they created a reserve of EUR 485 million, from which the abolition of the transaction tax for selected entities could be compensated.
Danko stressed that the CIS was convinced that the entire transactional tax must be canceled. “It is necessary to push in the first step to cancel the transaction tax for small businesses with a turnover of up to EUR 100,000 and sole traders. And in the second step, when the state budget for 2026 is compiled, I want to assure you on behalf of the CIS that if we do, we will require the abolition of the entire transaction tax at the end of this year”Added the CIS chairman.
The opposition Party Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) immediately announced that the proposal Danka would support the partial cancellation of the transaction tax in Parliament. “The SaS is for a complete cancellation of the transaction tax. Andrej Danko only gives partial cancellation, but we will also support it. This will also help the economy. And it would help Slovakia most if Fico’s government fell apart,” said party chairman Branislav Gröhling.
