Former Corinthians administrative director Marcelo Mariano, Marcelinho, attended the 3rd Civil Police Station to give testimony about the Vaidebet case on Monday afternoon (14).
Summoned as “investigated”, Marcelinho arrived at the PD at 2 pm (Brasilia) accompanied by his defense lawyer and referred to the lawyer room responsible for the case, DPPC delegate Tiago Fernando Correia (responsible for money laundering cases). There is a possibility of the investigated to speak after the testimony.
The investigation of the case also has the support of the Guaeco Prosecutor (Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime), Juliano Carvalho ATOJI.
In addition to Marcelo Mariano, two more names involved in the controversy with Vaidebet were also summoned to testify: the president of Corinthians, Augusto Melo, and Sérgio Moura, former marketing superintendent and one of the pillars in Augusto Melo’s election campaign.
According to CNN Brazil, the Civil Police understand that the case is close to an outcome. If the Civil Police identifies that there is evidence of crime, the indictment of individuals to the prosecutor will be referred. Finally, the prosecutor may offer the complaint or file the police inquiry.
EXECUTE THE CASE VAIDEBET
Vaidebet was Corinthians’ master sponsor between January and June 2024. The company broke the contract with the club.
In March last year, Corinthians would have made two deposits of R $ 700 thousand reais to Alex Cassundé, from Social Network Media Design Ltda, which was chosen to mediate the sponsorship.
Another transfer was made in the amount of R $ 580 thousand to the Neoway Soluções Integrated in Services Ltda and then another R $ 462 thousand were transferred to the same recipient.
The case Vaidebet has taken great proportion and is one of the main questions of the group that asks for the dismissal of.
Sérgio Moura, former marketing superintendent and one of the pillars in the election campaign of, were also summoned and should attend the police on Tuesday (15) and Wednesday (16).
