Place it in time
What procedure are we talking about now? In short, the Toulcovka needs to be moved about once every two years to give it an addition to the space for the growing root system. It is simple – as soon as its roots fill the flower pot so that they have nowhere to expand, they begin to feel oppression that leads to a poor supply of water to the plant. To understand this, Toulcovka begins unobtrusively, but soon to turn yellow. We, as experienced growers, should be able to prevent such a situation, but if we respond to the first warning hint of color change, we will still stand in this test.
The substrate must meet strict demands
Once you are preparing this room, choose a pot 2 – 5 cm larger than the one in which it lived now. First cover its bottom with a drainage layer (it can be ceramic, but it also serves quite ordinary gravel), pour a light new substrate on it. To supply the plant sufficiently with fresh nutrients, also add a little compost. When we talk about a light substrate, we mean the truly airy, ideally with the addition of perlite or peat.
Check the roots
Once the new home for the Toulcovka is prepared in this way, remove the plant from the original pot, clean it with the roots of the old substrate and look well. If you find that some parts of the root system are damaged or even rot, you now have a unique opportunity to remove them and help the plant. As soon as you are sure that you are transplanting a completely healthy toulcovka, nothing prevents it from settling into a new, larger container, filling the substrate and sufficient fastening.
Do you want more Toulcovky?
When transplanting is also the best time to multiply toulcovka. It is not complicated, simply divide the cluster and place each part in your own pot. You do not have to worry, you will not hurt the plant if you do the separation carefully and do not tear the root system unnecessarily. After transplanting it will be enough to supply water and everything will be saved.
What can Toulcovka give you?
Why are you actually growing Toulcovka? Probably because you just like it. That’s a good reason, but she also has many other positives. According to NASA, for example, it is one of the ideal plants that can do better than the other air in the room. On the other hand, you should think about its acquisition if you have furry pets in the apartment. The oxalates that contain are not usually life -threatening, but they are definitely not healthy. Irritation of the digestive tract of cats or dogs can be very unpleasant for the animal.
