Lusail – The Spaniard Maverick Viñales was only allowed to look forward to the first podium for KTM in the fourth season race of the MotoGP. The newcomer in the Tech3 team ended the race in Qatar as the second behind top star Marc Márquez. Due to a tire pressure offense, he was subsequently occupied with a 16-second penalty and therefore only 14th Austin winner Francesco Bagnaia inherited the second place in Viñales. Franco Morbidelli advanced to the third.
