– It’s time for not only nature to be awakened, but also the most anticipated season of all gardeners – sowing! One of the most popular cultures in our gardens is, of course, carrot. It looks like what’s complicated – you sow and wait for the harvest. However, those who have been growing carrots for years, they know that they grow beautiful, straight and sweet – not only patience but also cunning. Today we will share a little known, but especially effective way to sow carrots accurately and evenly – without hassle, without thinning and… with the help of a plastic bottle!
Carrot sowing with a special mixture directly from the bottle to the bed
Densely sown carrots interfere with each other, so they need to be thinned to grow good harvest. We have a great advice for you to sow carrots so that they distribute evenly and help them grow quickly and vigorously.
This method will require about 3 liters of pot, funnel, 2 liters of plastic bottle, 3 tablespoons potato starch and about 2 tablespoons carrot seeds.
Carrot sowing without thinning
The first step is to prepare the mixture.
Eiga process:
- Pour the water into the pot and place it over the heat.
- Dissolve the starch in a cup of room temperature.
- When the water boils in the pot, boil slightly over low heat.
- Stir at the same time to make the mass smooth.
- The mass should be quite thick, but the spoon must be dripped (it must still be slightly liquid).
- If it appears too thick, dilute it with water.
Cool the liquid and fill it with a bottle. The size of the bottle is proportional to the amount of seeds. Thus, 1 tablespoon requires a liter of liquid.
The bottle should not be fully filled – there should be about 100 ml of free space so that the seeds can be well shaken and better distributed in the bottle.
Now pour the seeds into a paste that has a pre -filled bottle. You can do this with a funnel. Remember that the funnel should be dry, otherwise the seeds will stick. Cover the bottle with a stopper and shake to distribute the seeds evenly.
Should look like this.
You can now start sowing. First, try the bottle in a small area to feel how to tilt the bottle and how the liquid (mixture) is pouring so you can distribute the seeds evenly.
The most important thing is not to fill the seeds thicker than you need – just cross the bottle along the line.
It should also be noted that the beds should be watered before sowing and the distance between rows is at least 20 cm.
Planting carrots in the spring according to this technology will not have to be unnecessary in the garden – plants will not have to be thinned. Another advantage is that the mixture absorbs over time, resulting in the seeds required for the necessary moisture. This means that you can expect great growth and fast harvest.
