Five people died on a fire in Pszow in the Silesian Voivodeship near Ostrava on Sunday evening, with 12 people being evacuated from the burning building. This was reported by the Chief Commander of the Polish Firefighters Wojciech Kruczek during the Sunday press conference. This is reported by Warsaw TASR rapporteur, according to PAP.
The fire broke out at about 18:30. in an object that was used as a hostel. According to Kruczka, the fire spread extremely fast, and this could be the reason why five victims could not leave the object in time. The victims were found by firefighters during a building survey, three on the first floor and two in the attic.
Evacuation and victim
There were 10 people among the evacuated Polish and two Ukrainian nationality. One of the evacuated persons and the intervening police are in the hospital. Others were provided with the possibility of substitute overnight stay. During the intervention, one police officer inhaled carbon monoxide, but his condition is stabilized according to the Silesian Duke Mark Wojchik and is expected to release his early release from the hospital.
Investigation of an object
The fire was located at 21:40. In the most intense phase, 120 firefighters with 34 vehicles were involved in the most intense phase. Duke Wojčik confirmed during the night press conference that the building was not officially kept as an accommodation facility.
