Amid the commercial dispute between the United States and China, which began by the US, US President Donald Trump, and China, Xi Jinping, “have no plan” to talk, said US Commerce Representative Jamieson Greer in an interview with CBS’s face The Nation program.

He stressed, however, that at some point a conversation should occur. “Since April 2 (when Trump has announced his tariffs), we have it (this issue) at the leader’s level (presidents) and, at some point, as President Trump pointed out, we hope to have a conversation with them,” Greer said.

He added that “the only reason we are really in this situation now is because China chose retaliation.” US import rates to China reached 145%, and those from China to the US at 125%.

He also talked about negotiations with countries that did not retaliate the US. The White House says that about 70 countries are negotiating. “The reality is that we are working day and night, sharing papers, receiving offers and returning to these countries about how they can better achieve reciprocal trade with the United States,” he said.

Asked if the 90 -day rate of suspension of tariffs except China will be sufficient to complete such negotiations, they said, “My goal is to get relevant agreements before 90 days.” “I think we will achieve this goal with several countries in the coming weeks,” he concluded.
