A 19 -year -old student, identified as Ana Luiza Silva dos Santos, died after being hit by a stray bullet On Sunday afternoon (13), in Salvador. The Bahia Military Police state that there was a confrontation between the corporation and suspects in the neighborhood of Engomadeira.
Family members and residents of the neighborhood dispute the version of the PM. By note, the Civil Police said the victim was found lying in a alley during the pursuit of the suspects. According to the Military Police, Ana Luiza had left home to shop when she was shot.
The military rescued the young woman and took her to Roberto Santos General Hospital, but she could not resist the injuries.
After the episode, residents of the region made a protest on Road das Barreiras, main access to the neighborhood. Protesters set fire to objects and crossed two buses on the road.
Soon after, a new protest was dispersed by police officers using shields, moral bombs and rubber bullets. There is no record of injured in this action.
Police and military firefighters were called to contain the protest and erase the flames. The road was released early in the evening, but the buses stopped circulating in the region. The Salvador Mobility Secretariat (Semob) said there is no forecast for resumption of the original route.
Still in a statement, the Military Police reported that teams from the 23rd CIPM were rounded on Nanan Street when they were surprised by gunshots. The agents retaliated, and the suspects fled the scene.
The corporation lamented the young woman’s death, said the facts are being cleared and reiterated her commitment to the legality and preservation of life.
Ana Luiza Silva dos Santos was in the third semester of the Faculty of Aesthetics. Her body will be buried on the afternoon of Monday (14), in the third cemetery of the Order of San Francisco, in Salvador.
