Axé Capoeira is considered the largest and best group of capoeiristas in the state of Acre. On the afternoon of Sunday (13), the group was officially launched in the municipality of Acreálândia, located in the interior of the state, about 100 km from the capital. The event took place at the state sports court of Acreálândia.
According to the group’s general coordinator in Acre, Ithamar Souza – popularly known as Master’s Master’s student – the official release of Axé Capoeira in EXTALAND was a grand event, which was attended by approximately 250 capoeiristas, all members of the entity.

During the programming, classes, classes and courses focused on the capoeira universe were held, with a special focus on the learning of students in the early stages. Classes take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 18h to 21h, at the multi-sport court itself. Currently, they are taught by qualified teachers who offer full attention to children and teach capoeira in a playful and pedagogical way, serving all the target audiences of the project. About 50 parents and guardians attended the launch activity, with their children, who are gradually interacting.
The court, under the responsibility of the Extraordinary Secretariat of Sport and Leisure (Seel), directed by Ney Amorim, has been a fundamental space for the encouragement of sports in the municipality, especially capoeira. The secretary is widely recognized for his constant support for the valorization of cultural manifestations linked to sport.

Dance performances were one of the main attractions of the event. The styles presented included Samba-Reggae, Frevo, Maculelê and Coco de Roda. The choreographies were organized and rehearsed by teacher and choreographer Cristina Raquel, popularly known as a graduate pepper.
Samba-Reggae is a Brazilian music genre that combines elements of samba with reggae. Frevo is a rhythm and a typical folk dance of Pernambuco, symbol of the Brazilian Carnival. Coco de Roda is a traditional cultural manifestation of the north and northeast of the country, with African, indigenous and Portuguese influences. Maculelê is an Afro-Indigenous folk dance that simulates a tribal struggle, with a strong presence in Bahia and other regions of Brazil.
The organization of the event invited the nine councilors, as well as the mayor and the deputy mayor of Acreálândia. However, only one appeared: Councilman Ivanir Vasconcelos de Souza, who highlighted the importance of sport – especially capoeira – as a transforming life tool, with the power to ward off children, young and adolescents from drugs and crime.
The event was supported by the Acre Program by Vida, from the Public Security Bureau of the State of Acre, coordinated by Colonel Edener Franco. The initiative aims to support sports activities and promote human rights and citizenship through sports.
There was also the support of the office of state deputy Nicolau Júnior, who has collaborated recurrently with the actions developed by the Axé Capoeira group. The deputy is always willing to support cultural and sports initiatives in the most distant communities of the state, being recognized as a true friend of sport.
Social projects like this are fundamental to the reduction of inequalities, promotion of citizenship, social awareness and collective transformation.
