A challenge launched by humorists Diogo Batáguas, Manuel Cardoso and Carlos Coutinho Vilhena resulted in a surprising mobilization of about 600 Portuguese who moved last Saturday to the Spanish locality of Jerez de Los Caballeros, located in the Estremadura region.
The idea originated in the “fake slow” podcast, led by the three humorists, who took advantage of the absence of one of his elements, John the Baptist, also known as “Velha”, to promote an unusual trip to a fifth division game of Spanish football, between Jerez CF and Montijo.
The initiative, initially seen as a joke, ended up gathering hundreds of Portuguese followers who formed a makeshift cheerleader, starring moments of animation with songs, flags and even the singing of the national anthem on Spanish soil.
In addition to the group move, some of the participants followed in the same bus as humorists, having been selected based on creative videos where they proved to be “lawyers”, “Spanish” or with “MacGyver” -style skills.
The match ended with a draw without goals, but the environment lived in the benches was described as memorable. In social networks associated with podcast, several records of the initiative were shared, which widely exceeded the initial expectations of the organizers.
The event was marked by conviviality, good mood and the unexpected expression of support for modest Jerez CF, who thanked social networks for one of the most unique moments of the local sports season.
