The health of federal deputy Glauber Braga (PSOL-RJ) has generated increasing concern, as reported on Monday (14). The parliamentarian has been since April 9, in protest against the approval of the opinion that recommends the revocation of his mandate by the Ethics Council of the House of Representatives.

“According to medical recommendations, Glauber is consuming only water, isotonic and serum. Concern about his health grows every hour, as he has signs of weakness. For this reason, visits are being restricted to avoid physical wear,” said the official bulletin released by his team.

In recent days, the deputy has received visits from allies of the Lula administration, such as ministers Gleisi Hoffmann (Institutional Relations) and Sidônio Palmeira (Secom), as well as actor Marco Nanini. However, by precaution, the number of visits will be reduced.

Braga responds to a process by. The deputy claimed to have been provoked and intimidated, while Costenaro said he was approached while lunch and later kicked out of the House. The request for cassation was submitted by the New Party and sent to the Ethics Council by the president of the House, Arthur Lira (PP-AL).

Glauber claims to be a victim of political persecution and accuses Arthur Lira of having articulated the opinion favorable to his cassation, reported by Paulo Magalhães (PSD-BA). The deputy, a critic of Lira’s conduct in the release of parliamentary amendments, was one of the protagonists, with PSOL, of the action that led the Supreme Court (STF) to suspend the secret budget in 2024.

The Ethics Council, by 13 votes to 5, does not imply immediate cassation. Glauber Braga can still resort to the Chamber’s Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ). If the opinion is taken to the plenary, it will be necessary at least 257 votes favorable for the mandate to be revoked.
