Hamas is to respond to the Israeli ceasefire proposal within 48 hours, which includes the exchange of prisoners and the end of the Gaza band blockade.
A high -ranking representative of the Palestinian militant Hamas movement on Tuesday told AFP that the movement after his leadership will answer the Israeli proposal of the ceasefire, writes TASR.
“Hamas is most likely to provide reply to the ceasefire intermediaries for the next 48 hours, as the movement is still undergoing in -depth conversations … In his leadership, as well as resistance factions to formulate a uniform opinion,” the representative said according to AFP.
The movement on Monday confirmed that it received from Tel Aviv the proposal of a ceasefire in the war in the Gaza Strip, which lasted 18 months. According to a representative, it contains a proposal for at least a 45-day temporary ceasefire in exchange for the release of ten living Israeli hostages. It also includes the release of 1231 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons and the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, which is completely blocked from March 2.
The proposal requires a “permanent end of the war”, provided that the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip, including Hamas from the Odzara, said the representative of the movement. Hamas has previously declared that he will not discuss disarmament, writes AFP. Israel has not yet commented on the content of the proposal.
There are still 58 Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip, of which 34 are the dead according to the Israeli army. During the ceasefire, which came into force on January 19 after more than 15 months of the war, Hamas released 33 hostages in exchange for approximately 1800 imprisoned Palestinians. However, Israel, 18 March, resumed fighting in the Palestinian enclave and declared that the attacks would continue until the remaining hostages were dismissed.
