The Palestinian group Hamas confirmed on Monday (14) that received a temporary truce proposal presented by Israel, with mediation from Egypt. The proposal foresees the release of half of the hostages held in the Gaza Strip in the first week after the start of the ceasefire, which would last at least 45 days. During this period, humanitarian aid would also be entered into the territory.

However, a Hamas leader stated that the proposal includes a condition considered unacceptable: group disarmament and other armed factions in Gaza. According to him, this requirement represents an “red line” nonsequently. In an official note, Hamas said it is still evaluating the proposal and will give an answer after making the necessary consultations.
