Significant to extreme drought affects approximately one third of Slovakia, the lack of moisture is in almost the whole territory. Normal conditions are on one percent of the Slovak area. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMI) informed about it on the web, saying that the excess of moisture is not observed anywhere.
“There is even worse situation in the surface layer. It is significant to extremely drought in a large part of western Slovakia, central Slovakia and northeast. In a deeper layer it is extremely drought, especially in the northeast of Slovakia, Orava, Povazie, Upper Nitra and locally in Záhorie,” The meteorologists approached.
Last week, most rainfall fell 15 to 25 millimeters according to SHMI in the northeast of Slovakia, the extreme east and Orava. The rainfall was not particularly on Ponitrí, Pohronie, Honte and in the eastern part of the Danube Lowland.
The temperature was relatively cold. It only warmed at the end of the week. “The highest air temperature was on Saturday and Sunday 21 degrees Celsius in Pohronie and Honte. The lowest temperature dropped to minus 11 degrees Celsius in the Slovak Paradise,” noted.
