Unanimous approval allows the beginning of the modernization process of São Januário and advancement in the structure of the club
The Vasco da Gama Deliberative Council approved the formation of a SE (specific purpose company) for the reform of the São Januário stadium. The decision was made at a meeting at the Nautical Headquarters of Lagoa, in Rio de Janeiro, this Thursday (15.br.2025).
SPE, controlled by the club, will be responsible for issuing, selling and managing the resources of the stadium’s constructive potential certificates, as well as coordinating the reform.
The vote was attended by 172 counselors in hybrid format, resulting in 168 votes in favor, 3 contrary and an abstention. The initiative aims to improve facilities and expand Vasco’s performance in Brazilian football.
The creation of SPE meets, of July 3, 2024, which requires the formation of this entity for the regularization of the reform.
The next step is the vote between the club’s statutory partners, with an extraordinary general meeting scheduled for May. This step seeks to consolidate the support of the Vasca community to the project and ensure the necessary mandate for SPE to advance with the reform.
Initially, it was expected that the works would begin in January 2025. However, the process of selling the constructive potential is still underway, postponing the beginning of reforms. The conclusion of SPE and the receipt of sales resources are considered crucial for the advancement of the project.
