In recent years, both expressed and Flixbus have been competing with regard to bus travel prices in Portugal. Both transport companies seek to offer the most affordable prices and what is certain is that it is already possible to travel between Lisbon and Faro for less than 5 euros or between Lisbon and Porto at the same price. However, Flixbus now has a route that can go for less than one euro.
The distance between Braga and Guimarães is short, but for those who depend on public transport, the route can become long and uncomfortable. Although only 22 kilometers separate the two worm cities, the absence of direct trains and the scarce offer of buses make it difficult for passengers to mobility. This reality makes the travel time much higher than the record in individual transport. The situation has been the target of criticism from frequent users.
New and economic and economic line
In order to collect this failure to offer transportation, Flixbus has announced a new solution. The German company, which specializes in Express Road Transport, began this Tuesday, April 15, a new direct line between Braga and Guimarães. This connection aims to simplify the daily life of those who circulate between the two cities, significantly reducing the travel time. The initiative is part of the expansion strategy of the domestic network in Portugal.
Up to 10 trips per day by 0.99 euros
Flixbus’s new connection foresees up to ten trips a day, five in each direction. Each route will have a duration of approximately 20 minutes, making this option as fast as the car trip. In addition to speed, the company highlights the economic factor as an asset, with tickets available from just 0.99 euros. This rate intends to capture usual transport and new passengers.
Parallel to the new connection between Braga and Guimarães, Flixbus also announced a widening of its operation in the north of the country. A new line that connects Valença do Minho to Porto is now available, including Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, and also Vigo, in Spain. Prices for this route start at 4.99 euros, and tickets are accessible through the company’s online channel.

Cita Tiago Cavaco Alves, Flixbus’s director of operations in Portugal, which stresses that the expansion of the national network aims not only to increase mobility, but also contribute to the reduction of the number of vehicles on the roads. “We continue to develop our network in Portugal, because we believe that removing cars from the roads is a priority that should be assumed not only by operators, but also by public policies,” he said.
Offer reinforcement in Easter
The arrival of Easter and the associated mini -springs led the company to reinforce its operation in the national and international territory. With increasing demand for economic travel during this period, Flixbus’s offer grew 11% compared to the same height last year. This decision aims to respond to the additional passenger flow, especially on the most sought after routes.
Between Lisbon and Porto, the connection was reinforced with an increase of 22% compared to 2024, now accounting for 152 planned trips. Also between Lisbon and Coimbra, the number of daily connections grew significantly, riding 70, which represents a 25% increase over the previous year. These data reflect the company’s bet on making road transport more competitive.
For Flixbus, the so -called Express Buses represent an essential tool in national mobility. “By offering direct links between cities and regions that are often not sufficiently served by other means of transport, so -called expressions play an essential role in territorial cohesion and promoting sustainable mobility,” said the official.
Onboard services included
The company operates in Portugal since 2017 and is an economic and comfortable alternative to other means of transport. Its vehicles are equipped with amenities such as free WiFi, electric outlets and ergonomic seats. These conditions seek to improve the travel experience for both short and longer travel.
Flixbus reinforces presence in Portugal
With these new routes and operating reinforcements, Flixbus consolidates its presence in the Portuguese market. The company continues to bet on affordable and sustainable mobility solutions, linking urban centers, interior regions and international destinations. The new connection between Braga and Guimarães can now become the favorite choice of many passengers in the northern region.
