A 4.8 on the Richter scale hit the southern sea at 3:26 am on Good Wednesday, causing concern in various areas of Calabria.
The epicenter of the earthquake was found about 55 kilometers from Augusta, in Syracuse province, at a depth of 48 kilometers, according to the Institute of Geophysics and Hephaestics (INGV).

Residents in many cities, such as Messina, Catania, Reggio Kalambria, Ragoussa and Syracuse, said they felt the earthquake, and heard a loud buzz.
Fortunately, there were no reports of significant damage or injuries after the earthquake. Local authorities have called on the population to remain calm and be informed of any further developments.
