Members of the PT try to sew an agreement to avoid, but bump into the resistance of members of Centrão, a majority group in the house.

The House of Representatives’ Ethics Council recommended on the last day 9 by 13 votes to 5, the same date that the PSOL congressman started a hunger strike on the House’s premises.

According to advisors, it is ingesting only water, serum and isotonic drinks. The deputy and allies improvised a mattress on the side of the Chamber 5 coordination table, the same room where the council recommended his cassation.

In recent days, PSOL and PT deputies have started conversations with other congressmen to maintain the Psolist’s mandate.

The idea would be to approve in plenary a milder punishment – as a suspension of the mandate or a warning – in the case of Glauber, which in April last year a member of the MBL (Free Brazil Movement).

It is up to the House plenary to decide whether or not to follow the recommendation of the Ethics Council, not yet defined. The vote is open, nominal, and is for the absolute majority of parliamentarians’ votes (at least 257 of the 513 votes).

One authorizes the vote of an amendment before the analysis of the board recommendation, which in theory allows the voting of a milder punishment.

Even in the face of this possibility, there is not today a majority feeling of the plenary to rid Glauber. This is because the deputy is in a belligerent profile, has already made several attacks on the center and maintains little relationship with congressmen from other parties.

Deputies also complain of their stance during the process of their case in the Ethics Council.

Nevertheless, a board member says, under reserve, that there is some discomfort with the harsh penalty of cassation – from the other examples that occurred in the house and did not result in the loss of the mandate. He does not see, however, an effort by party leaders to convince his benches to review this punishment.

There is an expectation among governors that the minister (PT), head of the Secretariat of Institutional Relations, enter the circuit and sew an agreement with the mayor, (-PB).

This negotiation, however, would be done behind the scenes to avoid generating noise. The government has stepped on eggs due to the risk of breaking into important allied parties leaders.

The mayor is abroad and should only emphasize these conversations next week.

According to an ally from Motta, it would be a big mistake for the executive to get involved in this discussion, as this could be understood as an interference in parliamentary prerogatives. The same applies to the judiciary.

Publicly, members of the Planalto Palace have stated that this is an internal subject of the Chamber.

“This is not a matter of government, it is an internal matter of the house, an internal judgment. [Mas] We always have an appeal to parliamentarians to review this position. I particularly consider a very unfair, disproportionate decision, “said Gleisi last Saturday (12) ,.

Nevertheless, since the 9th seven ministers of Lula have been to the Plenary 5 to visit the psolist-alien of Gleisi, Sidônio Palmeira, the Secretariat of Social Communication, Márcio Macêdo, the General Secretariat of Presidency, Cida Gonçalves, who heads for women’s portfolio, Macaé Evaristo, Paulo Teixeira, of agrarian development and Sônia Guajajara, indigenous peoples.

This Tuesday (15) the leader of the government in the House, José Guimarães (PT-CE), went to social networks to defend Glauber’s mandate.

Another petista on the front line of the conversations is the leader of the PT bench, Lindbergh Farias (RJ).

“I have hope and I believe some kind of agreement can be sewn so that this process is suspended for a period to facilitate dialogue and negotiation. I hope the arrival of Holy Week will help build a way out.”

The PSOL should appeal at the beginning of next week to the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission), to whom it is responsible for analyzing if there was a breach of any rite by the Ethics Council. The party will argue that the approved report has sustained much more in other Glauber’s trajectory friction than aggression to the MBL member.

The deputy and his allies, what Lira denies.

During the two terms of the deputy at the head of the House (2021-2025), Glauber was one of his main opponents. He has even called Lira a few times “bandit” and is also critical of the distribution system of parliamentary amendments, the center’s main mechanism of political action.

If the House measure Glauber’s mandate. Glauber’s alternate is Heloísa Helena (Rede-RJ), expelled from the PT in 2003 for opposing the pension reform of Lula’s first management. Petista’s allies fear that back to Congress ,.
