Meteorologists of the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMI) issued first -degree warnings of the wind and wind in the mountains on Thursday (17th 4.). They should enter into force in the morning. SHMI informed about it on his website.
Wind warnings will come into effect in the districts of Skalica, Senica, Malacky, Nitra, Zlaté Moravce, Levice and Nové Zámky at 9.00 am on Thursday morning. Occasionally there is an average wind speed of 45 kilometers per hour. “This speed represents a potential danger to human activities. The expected wind speed is normal at a given time and area, but can cause less damage,” the Institute said on the web.
Stronger winds in the mountains are expected by meteorologists in almost the entire Žilina region and in the districts of Poprad, Banská Bystrica and Brezno. First level warnings will come into effect on Thursday at 4.00 am. The wind can reach an average speed of 70 to 85 kilometers per hour, a whirlwind. According to them, such wind speeds can pose a danger to human activity, especially hiking, mountaineering and others.
