World trade organization expects shrinking world trade for customs disputes

Geneva – Given the customs spiral triggered by the USA, world trade threatens to shrink this year. The world trade organization (WTO) provides this dark forecast in its outlook presented on Wednesday. The WTO experts assume that the volume of world trade in 2025 will decrease by at least 0.2 percent-in the worst case by 1.5 percent. Without the latest developments in the customs dispute, around 3 percentage points would have been possible and thus growth.
