One Brazilian and two Bolivians died on the afternoon of Wednesday (16) during an alleged confrontation with the Military Police of Peru, in the community of San Bernardo, region of Puerto Maldonado. The Brazilian was identified as Marcos Vinicius Bassanin Santos, 21, born in Rio Branco (AC).

According to preliminary information, the shooting occurred approximately 1.5 km from the deviation of the interoceanic highway, in a branch that gives access to the locality of Águas Negras. According to unofficial reports, Marcos Vinicius was hit by shots in the chest and head.
In addition to the three deaths, four people were arrested and taken to the headquarters of Puerto Maldonado’s Special Services Unit (USE), where they remain in custody. Peruvian authorities are conducting investigations to investigate the circumstances of the event.
The bodies were sent to the morgue of Santa Rosa Hospital in Puerto Maldonado, where they will undergo expert examinations. Mark Vinicius’s relatives try to provide the body’s transfer to Brazil and await the release by the Peruvian authorities.
