The army commander gave a speech on Wednesday (16) with a warning to the changes lived in the recent geopolitics of the world during Army Day ceremony, which was attended by the president (PT).
“Turning our eyes to the international scenario, we can see that the world undergoes a rapid and at the same time deep transformation in its traditional geopolitical structures. Defense investments have been growing exponentially in all regions of the globe, a reality that suggests our country extra attention to the protection of Brazilians and the assets enshrined by the constitution,” he said.
In his speech, Tomás Paiva also mentioned that the actions of the forces must be guided by “professionalism and impartiality.” Again, this year, there were no references at the end of the government ().
“Our fortress, as a state institution fully devoted to the constitutional mission, stems from the impartiality and professionalism that should always characterize our actions,” he said.
“May the example of those who preceded us to inspire each one of us to follow the uniform we dress and the flag we defend. Let us continue to overcome the challenges of the present and the future, always in defense of our homeland and our people,” he said.
The commander also cited the recent technological acquisitions of the Army, in a speech to reinforce the need for preparation and apparatus of.
“The army has recently acquired terrestrial surveillance radars, essential sensors to control of territorial sectors, including the border range. In addition, it incorporated remotely controlled weapons systems in mechanized vehicles, anti -car missiles of various types and armored on wheels,” he said.
Lula has not spoken in the last two years at the event annually at the Army Headquarters in Brasilia.
Alongside the president were the ministers Jader Filho (cities), José Múcio (Defense), Márcio Macedo (General Secretariat), General Marco Antonio Amaro (Institutional Security), Mauro Vieira (Foreign Relations), Vinícius Marques (Senate Comptroller General) and Senate President Davi Alcolumbre (Brazil-AP Union), with whom he talked several times throughout the event.
Reserve General Hamilton Mourão, Senator and former Vice President of the Bolsonaro government, also attended the event in the row of authorities.
Upon arriving, Lula greeted all the authorities already present. With Mourão, he exchanged a protocol and serious hand grip, a gesture that Lula repeated with his ministers. Already alcohubre, which remained next to Lula throughout the event, was the only one among the authorities to give a hug to the president.
