Egg supplies appear in the kitchens not only during preparations for Easter. They are a universal ingredient in many meals and we like to eat them every day. Skilful storage minimizes food waste, so we answer the question: Eggs can be frozen? There is still a lot of doubt about this issue.
Stocks of eggs in households – not only on Easter
In many households, egg supplies appear not only in the preparation of holidays and large family celebrations. Sometimes the result of seasonal events or desires to make many purchases at once to save time. However, it should be borne in mind that fresh products cannot be stored indefinitely. What to do in such a situation?
Can you boil eggs freeze?
They are an ingredient in salads, sandwiches and we like to fill them with a tasty stuffing. In the middle of hectic cuisine, however, it is easy to overdo. You have a lot of stock left after a meal and think about what to do next? Boiled eggs are not suitable for freezing. Although they are considered relatively safe for consumption, they lose their structure when exposed to low temperatures. They become tasteless and simply disgusting. A much better idea is to thoroughly consider how many boiled eggs will be enough to consume in motion.
Raw eggs may be frozen but under certain conditions
The good news is that the raw eggs can be put in the freezer. However, you must prepare them for this process correctly. It should be noted at the outset that you should not freeze the whole eggs in the shells. There is a very high probability that the contents of the appliance contaminate and the flowing contents.
How to freeze eggs? You can do this in several ways
- Egg mixture – You can mix egg whites and egg yolks to form a homogeneous mixture. It is suitable for use in recipes where the structure of eggs is not very important. For example, you can add them to cakes.
- Freezing egg whites – They bear this process very well. It is good to whisk them lightly, which will make it easier for them to be used later when cooking. Place them in ice cubes and divide them immediately into practical portions or in freezing bags.
- Freeze the egg yolks – When exposed to low temperatures, they tend to thicken and solidify. To prevent this, add a little salt or sugar to the yolks (depending on what you plan to use) and mix.
Do not forget this while freezing
Make sure the eggs are fresh. Use airtight containers or pockets that protect the eggs from the air. Always mark the container with the date of freezing. You can store eggs in the freezer for up to six months.
Fast cooling is also important. The sooner the eggs reach a low temperature, the better. The freezer should be set to -18 ° C. The egg thawing process should be slow. Transfer them from the freezer to the refrigerator for a few hours or preferably for the night. It is not recommended to rush. It is better to avoid their thawing at room temperature, which promotes the growth of harmful bacteria.
