Minister of Agriculture and Livestock says that failure of 28 plants will be debated with Chinese entourage on April 22
The minister of, (PSD), said on Thursday (17.br.2025) that the rejection of the qualification of the export of 28 beef refrigerators nominated by the Ministry to China is a “strategic issue” of the Chinese government.
According to him, the matter will be debated on April 22 at a meeting with a Chinese entourage. “If it were a specific problem, it would be from one or another refrigeration plant. As they all, it is impossible to say that they all err. It is a strategic matter of them, which is why the delegation is coming now on April 22 (April)”he said during a conversation with journalists at the Itamaraty Palace in Brasilia.
Fávaro also recalled that during the Chinese President Xi Jinping to Brazil, the Asian country’s authorities had already signaled the intention to expand chicken and pork purchases in 2025, which indicated a possible “brake” in the importation of Brazilian beef.
“It was already an indication that they wanted to stop the purchase of cattle. I understand that this was part of this Chinese strategy”he declared.
However, he said that the current trade war between China and the United States can generate “An Opportunity”.
“A few days ago, in cattle meat, the Chinese government stopped enabling 395 plants. Someone will need to provide this meat, which was provided by the Americans (…) I think if there is an opportunity, including not only we revise the trends generated in these government things, but also how to create this list ”he said.

According to a document to which the Poder360 It had access, China rejected all 28 Brazilian beef refrigerators that had been nominated by the Mapa (Ministry of Agriculture) to qualify for export to the Asian country. The plants were rejected after an analysis of the (General Administration of Customs of China).
The Chinese opinion indicated nonconformities with the required technical criteria, including:
- Location of establishments in areas with sanitary restriction according to China standards;
- absence of changing rooms with direct access to the areas of production; and
- Failures in the age of cattle verification procedure at the time of slaughter.
