Dengue cases fall 75% in the first months of 2025

Brazil exceeds 1 million probable cases of the disease; In 2024, the country registered 4 million infections in the same period

Brazil recorded 1,010,833 probable cases of dengue in the first 15 epidemiological weeks of 2025. The number represents a 75% drop in relation to the same period of 2024, when 4,013,746 probable cases of the disease were accounted. The data are from the MS ().

The information corresponds to the period from December 29, 2024 to April 12, 2025. According to monitoring, 668 deaths from the disease were confirmed in this time interval. Another 724 are under investigation.

At the same time as last year, the country had already recorded 3,809 deaths from the virus and another 232 were under investigation. At the time, the incidence coefficient was 1,881 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

According to the MS panel, the dengue incidence coefficient in the country on Thursday (17.br.2025) was 475.5 occurrences for every 100,000 people. Most probable infections are concentrated in the age group of 20 to 29 years, followed by groups 30 to 39, 40 to 49 and 50 to 59 years.

Women represent 55% of confirmed cases. In race/color analysis, 50.4% of infected are white, 31.1% are brown and 6% are black.

São Paulo concentrates more than half of the country’s probable number of probable cases, with 585,902 infections. Minas Gerais, with 109,685 cases, Paraná, with 80,285 and Goiás, with 46,984, appear next.

The South and Southeast regions recorded 74% of confirmed infections in the period. The Midwest concentrated another 8%. Northeast and North have no state with more than 15,000 occurrences.
