Cencosud SA, one of the largest retailers in Latin America, announced on Wednesday (16) Vitor Fagá Almeida as the new general manager in Brazil. The executive has 25 -year experience in leadership positions, such as CFO and CEO in supermarket groups and retailers in Europe and Brazil. He replaces Sebastian Dario Los, who left the company in November 2024.
Fagá assumes the position on May 5. This week, the Executive of Vice President of Finance and Investor Relations in Assaí (), where he was just over a year. Before that, he was in the Carrefour group, where he was CEO of Sam’s Club for almost two years. He left office in January 2024, when the shopping club was integrated into the company’s retail unit. The arrival in Assaí was a reunion. Fagá worked for 9 years at the GPA and followed the development of the group’s attacking arm that would soon become an independent company.

Cencosud has been operating in Brazil for 18 years, through the Garbosa, Mercantil wholesale, Bretas, Perini, Prezunic, Spid and Giga Wholesale flags. In the country, the company has 380 units and 20,000 employees. It is present in Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Sergipe and Sao Paulo.
Operations extend through Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia and the United States.
With the departure of Fagá, Assaí put its current treasury director, Aymar Giglio Jr., to accumulate the position of vice president of finance of the company. The Investor Relations Directorate is being occupied interim by the company’s CEO Belmiro Gomes.
