The (-RJ) should announce on the afternoon of Thursday (17) the closing of the hunger strike that had started on the 9th, after.

According to nearby parliamentarians, there was a wave of the Mayor of the Chamber of Deputies, (-PB), who should speak publicly on Thursday afternoon towards a negotiated exit.

In April 2024, Glauber expelled from the chamber with kicks and pushing a militant from the MBL (Free Brazil Movement).

but bumped into the resistance of Centrão members, a majority group in the house.

According to deputies, Hugo Motta should propose the suspension for 60 days of the case after an appeal analysis at the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission). The goal would be to give time to an exit that involves less severe punishment, such as a suspension of the mandate or a warning.

The PSOL called a press conference for Thursday afternoon, when it is expected to be announced the nod of Motta and the end of the hunger strike.

The Ethics Council of recommended on the 9th, by 13 votes to 5,, the same date when the PSOL congressman started the hunger strike. According to advisors, he was ingesting only water, serum and isotonic drinks.

The deputy and allies improvised a mattress on the side of the Chamber 5 coordination table, the same room where the council recommended his cassation.

Eventual cancellation of the deputy’s mandate, if it was realized, – the first time a deputy has this punishment for physical aggression.

The history of the Chamber is full of cases of violence that never resulted in loss of mandate – in this punches of a parliamentarian in the face of a colleague within the plenary in 1991, even recent episodes that mention kicks, stomach punch, foot and domestic violence.

Despite the recommendation of the cassation, the final word is from the House Plenary. Previously, Glauber should appeal, possibly next week, to the House Constitution and Justice Commission. To the commission, it is worth considering whether the rite of the Ethics Council has been fulfilled. If you understand there was irregularities, the case may return to new analysis in the agency.
