A 34-week-old twin pregnant woman pregnant has faced serious difficulties to get proper care during Wednesday.

According to the National Association of Medical Emergency Technicians, the woman, who had “significant complications”, initially sought the Nossa Senhora do Rosário Hospital, in Barreiro, where significant complications were identified in pregnancy.

However, after the evaluation, he was advised to return home and contact the SNS 24 line to be sent to another hospital, as that hospital unit could not be able to treat the case.

Following the guidelines, the pregnant woman returned to her residence in Moita and came into contact with the SNS 24 line, which recommended that she went to the São Francisco Xavier Hospital.

Due to the severity of the situation and the impossibility of moving, the pregnant woman was told to call 112. The ambulance arrived at 11:40, but, after assessment, the relief team was waiting for a decision on the destination of transport until 2:20 pm, almost three hours later.

During this period, it was considered the hypothesis of referring the woman to a hospital unit in Coimbra. Finally, the pregnant woman was transported to Alfredo da Costa Maternity in Lisbon, where she received the necessary medical care.
