The Foreign Ministers of Spain, José Manuel Albaresy Morocco, Nasser Bourita, They have certified this Thursday the “best historical moment” of the relations between the two countries in a meeting in Madrid, in which both have once again defended the Autonomist plans of Rabat for Western Sahara.
In a joint statement, Albares stressed that Spain’s position on Western Sahara expressed on April 7, 2022 recognizes the “serious and credible” efforts of Morocco in the framework of the United Nations to find a “mutually acceptable” solution.
Has assured that the Moroccan autonomy initiative presented in 2007 constitutes “the most serious, realistic and credible base” to solve this “different” at the regional level.
Along the same lines, the Moroccan minister stressed that Rabat’s proposal has the support of the international community and is in the dynamics of seeking a solution unlike those who maintain “old positions” related to the self -determination of the Sahara.
