Governor Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans) decided to change the command of the São Paulo Military Police. Commander-General Cássio Araújo de Freitas will be replaced by José Augusto Coutinho, current subcommander. THE Estadão It has learned with the governor’s interlocutors that the change will be made official in the coming days.
Coutinho is the name of the confidence of the Secretary of Public Security, Guilherme Derrite, and previously occupied the Shock Policing Command (CPCHOQ), to which the Ostensive Rounds Tobias de Aguiar (Route) is subordinate. As a deputy commander, Coutinho also became the Chief of Staff of the PM.
Recent research by Quaest points out that violence is the main concern of Brazilians. In the last year, the number of thefts even fell in the state – the smallest level in the historical series. But experts point out that, because of the possibility of transfers by Pix, the damage to having a stolen cell phone has become larger than before.
Another problem has been the escalation of violent crimes, such as the death of cyclist Vitor Medrado, shot near the West People’s Park or architect Jefferson Dias, murdered after intervening in a robbery in Butantã, also in the West Zone. The sense of impunity also worsens the scenario.
Last year, Tarcisio had already replaced the main commanders of the São Paulo Military Police, an act that caused indignation and revolt in the officers and inaugurated a crisis in the institution. The most significant change was the exit of the corporation’s number 2, Colonel José Alexander of Albuquerque Freixo, who like other dome colonels were demoted to second -ranking positions. At the time, the Secretariat of Public Security said that promotions for merit had already been held previously, including other police bodies.
Tarcisio made 34 transfers of the colonels. The changes were viewed by the disgruntled group as an attempt of political interference from the Secretary of Public Security, Guilherme Derrite (PL-SP), in the corporation. The ascended colonels would be linked to the secretary, who was captain of the PM and member of the route.
