Erika Hilton accused Donald Trump administration of “state -sponsored transphobia”
Two Brazilian transgender deputies reported that they requested visas to travel to the United States and that local authorities identified them as men in their documents.
The first to make the complaint was Mrs Erika Hilton, who accused Donald Trump administration of “state -sponsored transphobia.” Then his colleague Duda Salabert revealed that the same happened to him, the EFE agency reported.
Hilton, a member of the Socialism and Freedom Party (PSOL), had been invited to participate in an event organized by the Brazilian community, the Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), but decided not to travel after receiving a visa that ignored his transgender condition.
“I was concerned about the treatment I could receive at the airport from the US authorities, since my name is feminine and the visa described me as a man,” he said, in a message published on social networks.
“To be honest, I was scared and did not agree to submit to this kind of things,” he added.
Yes it is true. I was classified as the “male” by the US government when I went to take my visa to go to Brazil Conference, at Harvard University and MIT.
It doesn’t surprise me. This is already happening in US trans art documents for a few weeks ago.…

According to Hilton, this is a case of “state -sponsored transphobia,” which directly attributed to the US President, who has adopted controversial measures against the LGBT community in recent weeks.
The socialist deputy also expressed her concern about the fact that “a country ignores official documents”, such as Brazilians, “concerning the existence of their own citizens”, and “modifying them according to the narrative and will of the acting president to withdraw rights.”
Hilton also announced that he will consider filing a complaint against Trump with the United Nations Human Rights Commissions and the Organization of American States (OAS) for “state -sponsored transphobia” and will require the Brazilian Government to summon the US ambassador to the country to “offer explanations.”
Salabert of the Democratic Labor Party (DLP) said he requested a visa renewal to participate in an organized children’s development course for an international organization in collaboration with Harvard University.
The visa identified her as a man, although all her documents, including the birth certificate, identify her as a woman.
“This situation goes beyond transphobia: it is a lack of respect for the sovereignty of Brazil and the most basic human rights,” said Salabert, who also requested the protection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to resolve the issue by diplomatic way.
