Tourists who have not completed compulsory vaccination against measles and whooping cough and be infected by these diseases abroad, the insurance company does not have to reimburse the costs associated with the local medical treatment due to infection of these infectious diseases. Informed about it ČSOB spokeswoman Zuzana Fečová.

Infectious diseases such as measles and whooping cough are included in Slovakia in compulsory vaccination of children and vaccines are fully covered by public insurance. “Therefore, if our policyholder travels unvaccinated and needs medical care abroad because of infection with such infectious diseases, his costs cannot pay. Travel insurance does not apply to damages that arise or arise because the client has not completed the mandatory vaccination, which is recommended by the Public Health Authority (ÚVZ) of the Slovak Republic before traveling, ” She said ČSOB.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), measles disease cases in the world are increasing, their last year was the worst in a quarter of a century. Last year, WHO and UNICEF recorded more than 350,000 cases of this infectious disease, only more than 100,000 positive cases have occurred in Europe.

ČSOB therefore recommended tourists before traveling abroad to check the recommendations of the country they are going to travel to. They can be found on the website of the ÚVZ SR or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the Travel section. “If someone travels without the necessary vaccination, there is a risk of not only not paying the treatment costs, but also the risk of not letting the country,” ČSOB alerted.
