This is the second incident in the last three weeks. Israel has signed up for the attack and claims to be a mistake.
The International Red Cross Committee (MVCK) announced on Thursday that one of its bases in the Gaza Strip was damaged by an explosive on Wednesday. The Committee did not specify who was behind the attack. This is the second such incident in the last three weeks. According to the AFP report, TASR reports this.
“We are mostly condemned by any steps that limit our ability to perform our work and threaten the lives of humanitarian workers,” MVČK said in its press release on Thursday.
On March 24, another organization in this area was hit by a tank shot. Israel applied for an attack in which no one was injured at that time and stressed that this was a mistake. The Israeli forces in the building have identified suspects who considered a risk to their units.
The buildings were properly marked
MVČK stressed that both incidents occurred despite the fact that the buildings were clearly marked and all parties were regularly informed of their location.
“These incidents point to the risks of civilians, medical staff and humanitarian staff in the Gaza Strip today. They have a negative impact on the ability of the MVC to provide basic protection and assistance to hundreds of thousands of people who need it for survival,” MVCK added.
According to the organization, all parties must respect and protect humanitarian workers as well as objects used to provide humanitarian aid. The repetition of such incidents, according to her, points out that the parties must do much more in order to provide their armed forces with clear instructions for ensuring the safety of humanitarian workers and their facilities. At the same time, the organization referred to the obligations arising from international humanitarian law.
