Rio de Janeiro enters the holiday mood with encouraging numbers for the tourism sector. With the combination of the recesses of Holy Week, Tiradentes and São Jorge, the hotel occupation fires both in the capital and in the interior of the state.
According to data released by the Rio de Janeiro Hotels Association (ABIH – RJ), the average occupancy reaches 86.12% in the city of Rio and 87.83% in the tourist regions of the interior, reflecting the strong movement of visitors in search of rest and leisure.
In the city of Rio, the hotel survey considers the period from 18 to 21 April. The neighborhoods with the highest occupancy rate are Copacabana/Leme (91.77%), Flamengo/Botafogo (89.08%) and Barra/Recreation/São Conrado (86.34%). Ipanema/Leblon and the center also stand out, with 82.10% and 75.72%, respectively.
Inside, the ABIH-RJ survey covers the period extended until the 23rd. Destinations such as Arraial do Cabo (97.10%), Miguel Pereira (95.10%) and Paraty (93.10%) lead the reserves, followed by Angra dos Reis, Cabo Frio and several cities of Serra Fluminense.
The expectation of movement does not stop there. On May 3, in Copacabana promises to attract 1.6 million people, 240,000 tourists – 80% international. The event is part of the city’s official calendar and should take place annually by at least 2028.
According to estimates by City Hall and Riotur, the presentation of the American singer should inject about $ 600 million into the local economy. The average daily ticket of foreign tourists is R $ 590.40; that of Brazilians, R $ 515.84. The average permanence is four days for foreigners and three for nationals.
“It’s great to see the city’s occupation at this level for the Lady Gaga show and the Labor Day holiday. City Hall agreed by programming the event in low season, helping to maintain the regularity of the hotel occupation and benefiting bars, restaurants and trade in general,” said Alfredo Lopes, president of Hotels.
Tom Jobim International Airport (Riogaleão) also prepares for the intense movement. Between April 17 and 24, more than 364,000 passengers are expected on 2,293 national and international flights. The main destinations include Sao Paulo, Recife, Porto Alegre, Buenos Aires, Santiago and Lisbon.
According to the hotel chain, with performance in tourism and the forecast of major events, Rio consolidates itself as one of the country’s main destinations in 2025 – and promises to continue attracting visitors from all over the world.
