The action, inspired by Christian tradition, is part of a national diabetes prevention campaign
The Minister of Health, participated in this Thursday (17.ab.2025), in São Paulo, “Lava campaign: Beware of diabetic feet”next to Father Julio Lancellotti.
The initiative focuses on raising awareness of the risks of diabetes, especially regarding the prevention of complications such as wounds, infections and amputations.
Health professionals participated in the action, students in the area, representatives of religious and educational entities, and community leaders.
During the event, the feet of homeless residents were washed, while people with diabetes mellitus underwent assessment of the so -called “diabetic foot” and received guidance on healthy eating, oral health and correct use of medicines.
“This will become a commitment of mine. I will return every year to show more advances in the care of the homeless population and the primary care of SUS, to improve more and more”said Padilha.
The campaign runs until April 24 in several Brazilian cities, with the support of municipal and state health secretariats, universities, churches and civil society organizations.
