The question mark in the depths: unique fossil has been discovered in the USA

American scientists discovered a fossil of one of the most unique beings who lived on our planet over half a billion years.

The species was called Quaestio Simpsonorum. The researchers concluded that these living things were among the first able to move autonomously.

Specialists from the University of Florida performed a detailed analysis of the structure and other characteristics of the biological “artifact”. Fosila is about 555 million years old and has been classified as belonging to an unknown species so far, baptized Quaestio Simpsonorum.

An essential aspect that distinguishes it from the previous forms of life is the clear asymmetry between the left and the right side – an important sign in the evolution of organisms. According to experts, Quaestio Simpsonorum would have been the first body capable of moving alone to the earth.

The being is not large-it fits in a palm. It has the form of a question mark and already presents a visible separation between the two parts of the body.

Based on research, scientists have formed an image of how this ancient marine creature lived. He moved to the bottom of the sea, absorbing the nutrients of microscopic algae, bacteria and other microorganisms-in a way similar to the operation of a vacuum cleaner. On the marine stone plates were discovered clear fingerprints of the body of Quaestio and traces of his displacement.
