The remuneration of Javier Oliván, director of Meta Operations, amounted last year to 25.51 million dollars (about 22.4 million euros to the current exchange rate), according to the call of the Board of Shareholders made public this Thursday by the company. Although Mark Zuckerberg security and private plane, which only charges a salary dollar, legally elevates its remuneration to 27.2 million dollars.
The salary of the Spanish manager is slightly below 25.56 million dollars of 2023. It is broken down into 1.1 million fixed salary, one million bonus in cash, 21.6 million in incentives in shares and 1.7 million in other remuneration. Almost all this last item was allocated to personal security expenses, including a figure to deal with taxes with which these services are taxed.
In the case of Zuckerberg, founder and principal target shareholder, with a fortune valued at 178,000 million dollars, the 27 million dollars that appear as their remuneration are the company’s expenses reality in its safety and transport. There are 10.4 million in concept of “expenses related to your personal security in your residences and during your personal trips” and another 14 million as an annual allocation before taxes “to cover the additional costs related to the personal security of Mr. Zuckerberg and his family.” This is joined by 2.6 million assumed by the company for expenses related to the personal use of private planes.
Oliván’s remuneration is the second highest among the senior executives of the large US -listed companies. The remuneration of Joaquín Duato, president and first executive of Johnson & Johnson, was last year of 24.3 million dollars, according to the homogeneous accrual criteria required by the Securities and Stock Exchange Commission. The call of the Meta Board also points out that the Spanish manager has a property plane and that the company pays for the use of it for business trips. “We hire a private plane that is indirect and exclusive property of Javier Oliván and is operated by an independent charter flight company for the business trips of Mr. Oliván. On certain occasions, Mr. Oliván can be accompanied by guests when he uses said plane, and some members of our staff can also use it for business trips,” says the document.
“For all these uses, we pay an amount according to the market rates for similar trips, in accordance with a written policy supervised by our Risk Audit and Supervision Committee and our Compensation Committee, Appointments and Governance. In 2024, we pay approximately 412,000 dollars for business trips on that plane,” he adds.
