The US will stop trying to mediate a Russian-Ukraine peace agreement within days unless there are clear evidence that an agreement can be reached, the US Secretary of State said today.
Speaking to Paris, Rubio after meeting with European and Ukrainian officials, said President Donald Trump is still interested in an agreement but has many other priorities around the world and is willing to go ahead with no evidence.
“We have to determine the next few days if (peace) is possible or not” and “if it is not possible, we must move on to something else” because “the US has other priorities,” he told reporters.
Rubio also said that London, Paris and Berlin could “help move things and bring us closer to a resolution” of the Ukrainian conflict.
“I believe that the United Kingdom, France and Germany can help us, move on and bring us closer to a solution. I found their ideas very useful and constructive, “Rubio told reporters before leaving Washington from Paris Airport.
