An attack from the United States to a fuel port in western Yemen left at least 58 dead and 126 injured, according to Al Masirah, controlled by the Houthis. The bombing occurred on Thursday night (17) in Ras Isa, one of the areas under the control of the group supported by Iran.
According to the US Central Command, the target of the offensive was a source of fuel supply from the Houthis. “The purpose of these attacks was to degrade the Houthis’s economic source of power, which continue to explore and inflict great pain about their compatriots,” the command said on the X network.
The attack is one of the most lethal since the US intensified last month its largest military operation in the Middle East since Donald Trump’s management. The actions aim to contain the attacks of the Houthis to commercial ships in the Red Sea, especially those with alleged calls with Israel.
Since November 2023, the Houthis has launched dozens of missiles and drones against vessels in the region, in protest against the war in Gaza. During a two -month truce in the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the attacks were suspended, but the group promised to resume offensives after the resumption of Israeli military action last month – although it has not claimed new attacks ever since.
In March, similar US attacks killed more than 50 people, according to information from Houthi authorities.
