It was held this Saturday (19.br.2025) in Beijing, the capital of China, the 1st Half Marathon of Humanoid Robots of the world. About 20 robots participated in the race. The winner traveled 21 km in 2 hours, 42 minutes and 40 seconds. This time is about 40 minutes over the average time of a novice corridor man over 40 in this type of race, according to the site.
The event was located in the area of Economic and Technological Development of Daxing district, known as Beijing E-Town-because it is a neighborhood that concentrates several technology companies.
The Tien Kung Ultra robot, developed by China’s National and Local Innovation Center, was the winner of the race. Since the starting shot at 7:30 am, the robot took the lead and performed as superior to the others.
The purpose of the event was to test the robots in long distance tests. To adapt the 21 km race, some robots presented specialized designs, including a battery system that allowed their uninterrupted operation.
The robots were accompanied by 3 members of their respective teams that monitored their performance. Some robots wore running sneakers.
Humans also participated in the race and ran next to the robots separated by a barrier to ensure the safety of all participants. The event also attracted the attention of onlookers, interested in watching the humanoid robots participating in a half marathon.
