This shrub, or a tree, named after a French botanist, has 210 species. The range of lewling flowers is line from purely innocent white, through pinkish to purple. And even yellow.

They grow even in pots
The huge advantage is offered by smaller shrubs, which are doing well in pots. This is good news for those who would like to grow this charming plant, but it does not have enough space in the garden.
How do they like land
Most magnolia prefer neutral to slightly acidic soil. What may not be a strong wind at all. To bloom beautifully, they need enough sunshine.
When and how to plant
The best option is in autumn or at the end of spring. So now it is the right time. The roots of magnolia do not have long, so they will suffice a smaller hole. Prepare garden compost, preferably manure. At the beginning it requires a hearty watering. In the spring, support Magnolia with a compost cure.
Pruning
Wait for a bloom and take care of the crossing branches, as well as those who are broken or otherwise “sick” – remove everything, relieve the plant. If you want to have a smaller shrub, just because of not much space, prun regularly every year for the first few years.
What is troubled by magnolia
Here and there some pests, sometimes fungal diseases. Otherwise, plants are relatively resistant. When low temperatures strike, the leaves are black. But with the first heat, the new leaves will be pushed. Rather, you may be troubled by the fact that they will have little or no flowers. Give young magnolia time, wait for several years, it will turn out. However, follow three important rules – keep the soil irrigated, take care of enough sun and protect from stronger wind.
So let you grow nicely.
