Starlink’s satellites, an Elon Musk Spacex project
It has been known that the constellation of Spacex Starlink Internet satellites of Elon Musk was a priority target of Russia. A new report confirms the thesis and brings together China as a great enemy.
There is no doubt. The constellation of satellites Starlink from Spacex began to be a Russian priority targetafter being used for military purposes in Ukraine, following the Russian invasion in 2022.
The conclusion is a new one, published on April 3 Secure World Foundation (SWF), which highlights and warns of the increasing dependence on humanity of space – Especially for national security purposes.
“Our global society and economy are increasingly dependent on spatial capabilities, and a future conflict in space may have huge and long-term negative repercussions that will be felt on Earth, since everyone on this planet is users of space in some way,” he can read.
Russia and China threaten Spacex
Spacex Starlink, for example, use a massive satellite network in the low orbit of Earth to provide high -speed broadband internet.
OS to maintain internet connectivity after Ukraine’s internet services were interrupted following the Russian invasion. The service also allowed safe communications for the military and the Ukrainian government.
However, in May 2024, the Ukrainian military began to suffer Starlink connections interruptionswith the fault to be attributed to Russia.
The SWF report now confirms this thesis. US military documents, which have been leaked, suggest that a Russian system called Tobol – Originally designed to protect Russian interference satellites – was used to interrupt the signs of Starlink commercial satellites About Ukraine.
These documents “suggest that Russia used at least three tobol facilities to try to stop the Starlink commercial satellite signs on east Ukraine,” reads the report.
According to SWF, Russia is also developing a more recent and more sophisticated system – Conneline – which is intended to detect and interrupt the signs of and for the Starlink satellites in order to interfere with Ukrainian drones and military communications.
The SWF report also states that China is investing in similar capabilities for potential future armed conflicts with the USA.
